Signs Your Brake Pads Need Replacing Taking longer to come to a complete stop is an obvious sign that your brakes are losing their braking power. However, there are other indicators of brake pad wear. You may feel your vehicle pulling to one side or the brake pedal pulsating or vibrating. Listen closely when hitting the brake pedal, worn brake pads can make a variety of sounds including rattling, clicking, grinding, growling and squeaking.	How to Check Brake Pads for Wear Inspect your brake pads without removing the tire by looking through the holes in the hubcap. Some brake pads have a wear indicator down the center of the pad. If your pads don’t have that, measure the thickness; if it’s less than 1/4" it might be time to change them. If you can’t see the brake pads through the wheel cover, you’ll have to raise the vehicle and remove the tire to inspect the brake pad.	Brake Pad Break-In Before wrapping up a brake pad job, be sure to perform a break-in (burnish) cycle to seat the friction materials into the opposing rotor for improved braking power. Wagner recommends making approximately 20 complete stops from 30mph to ensure the friction materials conform to the surface of the rotor.	Change In Pairs When replacing the brake pads, Wagner recommends changing the rotors and hardware to maintain optimal braking power as changing both will provide even braking. If you install new brake pads but keep the old rotors, those pads will only properly. Don’t compromise your vehicle’s braking power – change the brake pads when replacing the rotors.

Got these pads as a replacement to some I ordered from Amazon that didn't fit even though the vehicle selector said it would. These fit very tight on install and I was worried about that causing an issue possibly. But it's been about 1500 miles so far without issues. They are quite and have decent bite during braking for ceramic pads but they are still really dusty. Not a huge deal but they will definitely turn your rims a different color from the dust fairly quickly.

I had standard Wagner front pads on my Honda civic and got about 25,000 before replacement. I decided to spent a few bucks more and replace them with Wagner Thermo-Quiet pads. After only 1 week of combined local and highway driving I now hear the pads "moaning" when rolling slowly. I will replace the older rotors and hope that is the only reason for the noise.
