WiFi isn't always available, sometimes for security reasons, sometimes because the router is acting up (and maybe you need to plug in to fix it), sometimes you just don't get enough of a signal. Yet laptops often now omit the Ethernet jack because … you can just use WiFi!
Having one of these in your bag is essential if your laptop is one of those that somehow doesn't have one.
Does it connect? Yes. Is it dropping packets all over the floor? Nope. Is it mechanically well-constructed? Looks like it. Could it be any smaller or lighter? Probably not. Maybe if it had a plastic shell instead of aluminum. I'd have preferred that so I didn't have to worry about metal scratching metal, but the market thinks things made of plastic are "cheaper" and lower quality. I'm more interested n the quality of the cables and connectors. and would otherwise trade weight for "rugged appearance" on a part that doesn't need it. But I don't think a solid plastic enclosure would be lighter than this aluminum one.
Overall, it's fine. It does the job, and that's all I hoped for.
