Product Description

The Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On is a detachable racing wheel featuring the “THRUSTMASTER Quick Release” system allowing users to quickly switch from the T500 RS GT wheel to the F1 Ferrari wheel (and conversely). It is a full-size replica of the Formula 1 Ferrari 2011 racing wheel, under official license by Ferrari, for the THRUSTMASTER T500 RS (T500 RS driving simulator sold separately). There are two available game modes: 1.) “Normal” mode, PC and PS3™ compatible (offering 13 action buttons and 3 D-pads); and 2.) “Advanced” mode, PC compatible (offering 25 action buttons and 1 D-pad). Please note that a T500 RS firmware update (available from THRUSTMASTER's website) is required to operate the F1 Ferrari racing wheel.

It's a full-size replica of the Formula 1 Ferrari 2011 racing wheel, under official license by Ferrari, for the T500 RS. The Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On features a scratch-brushed reinforced metal facing ensuring optimum solidity and inertia. In addition, the scratch-brushed metal F1 "Push & Pull" sequential shifters are directly attached to the wheel in true F1 tradition and feature rubber-textured grips. With the Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On, T500 RS owners can now enter the world of the ultimate automotive racing challenge: Formula 1.

Professional Quality Rotary Knobs, Switches and Action Buttons

The extensive built-in equipment--rotary knobs, switches and action buttons--boasts professional quality, enabling each driver to make precision adjustments according to his own racing style and the conditions on the track. The racing wheel offers two rotary encoder switches (allowing direct, on-the-track optimization of the car's race settings), eight push-buttons (with a 6.5 N dual-detent pressure), three 4.5 N metal switches with 3 positions and an automatic centering feature, two 2.5 N 8-directional D-Pads, and two up/down shifters.

Two Available Game Modes

When it comes to system compatibility, 2 game modes are available: a PC- and PS3-compatible normal mode (offering 13 action buttons and 3 D-Pads, with 17 programmable functions) and an advanced PC-compatible mode (offering 25 action buttons and 1 D-Pad, with 29 programmable functions).

The wheel feels great. Feedback is even better through this addon wheel than the one that came with the Thrustmaster T300. (YES! IT WORKS WITH THAT BASE!)
As noted in other reviews, the 5 center dials are purely cosmetic. They are actually molded plastic, part of the wheel casing and do not turn at all.
There are PLENTY of other controls that give you exactly what you want, where you want it. For instance, the two thumb wheels are positioned within easy reach to make adjustments to brake balance, fuel mixture, etc., while racing. One of the best purchases I have made.

The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is because it’s not its younger brother with the LCD screen and carbon fiber face and switches that actually work. The buttons travel well, I believe, and feel solid with every press. The rotary knobs are solid and the paddles are great for shifting. The click is a bit off putting but that’s all personal preference. Does the job well. Definitely glad I pulled the trigger on this one.

This is a good starter for F1 sim racing, buttons work perfectly and it’s just exactly what you’d find from a starter wheel. Honestly the only con I have for it is the fact the knobs aren’t knobs they just have tacky stickers on them, and the shifters don’t feel so smooth, but other than that it does it’s job for whatever you’re looking for. Compatible with Thrustmaster TX wheel base servo.

This is a great wheel. The paddles are metal and give a satisfying click. The switches and buttons are nicely located and easy to reach with your thumbs. It's got rubberized grips and a good weight to it. Yes, it's a bummer that the dial switches are fake and the stickers around them are, well, just stickers. But for the price, this wheel is still very pretty and feels great in your hands. When mine's not mounted on my wheel base, I display it on a shelf because it's a great piece of art as well.

I've got mine mounted on a Thrustmaster T500rs base. I predominantly play F1 and Project CARS on PS4. I Own multiple rims for my T500rs and this is my go-to for most open wheel racing. It works very well with the games I play and transmits the T500's force feedback very nicely. In fact I think it's lighter than all the other Thrustmaster rims so you definitely feel the most FFB with this.

This wheel has enough buttons to give console players all the functionally they can get out of a wheel. There are enough buttons to correspond with all the buttons on PS4/XB1 controllers. PC racers might find that the fake dial switches hinder their experience with this wheel though depending on how many buttons they need to assign.

For casual and even semi serious sim racers, this wheel offers plenty and will do the job nicely for you. Hardcore sim racers might find this wheel to be more of a toy though and opt for something more realistic. But the price jump between this wheel and a more realistic F1 style wheel is quite steep.

Good so far for what it is........

Just recently picked this up (12, 2020) and so far its been a good wheel. Kinda nice to have a Formula 1 replica wheel for racing in Formula One games.

Overall I like this wheel. Its a nice change of pace from the standard I've been using over the last 4 years. Grip feels good and not sticky like I've seen in a lot of reviews. The buttons do require quite a push unlike the buttons on the standard wheel, so its taken some getting used to.

A couple of things I don't like about this wheel that I think Thrustmaster could have been more keen on. The two rotary knobs, left and right take multiple turns to register one click on the ps4. This makes using them rather moot to change things like brake bias, diff locks, and fuel on the fly in the game F1 2020. So for me they're just there and not really usable.

I'm also not a fan of the three switches at the bottom center of the wheel. I would have preferred buttons. The switches just feel as though they could easily break if you're not careful. The center switch is used as your, 'PS', button, and the other two are your, 'options'. If the center switch ever goes out, I'll effectively have no way of turning on the wheel for the ps4 to recognize as a controller.

That being said I'm certainly enjoying the wheel for what it is. Should that center switch ever go out at least I still have my standard wheel to hook back up to the t300 servo.
