Front mounted hitch receivers allow a variety of accessories to be mounted on the front of trucks, vans, or SUV’s to perform tasks that make outdoor adventures and activities easier and more fun. Accessories are easily interchanged, so the receiver is a practical and versatile addition to sporting and work vehicles. All front mount receivers have a 2” square receiver tube opening and all attachments are J-Pin ready. Front mounted receivers offer a secure and useful attachment point and offer 9000 lbs. of line pull and 500 lbs. vertical load. The METALSHIELD protective coating process is a three step finish consisting of a rust inhibiting primer, dipped E-coat electrostatic coating to insure total finish coverage and finally an outer powder coat finish for durability. The METALSHIELD process is an OEM compatible finish providing the best corrosion protection over brands that use only powder coat on their products. Install time is an estimated 20 minutes and requires 18mm, 3/4", and 7/8" wrenches and a 9/16" drill bit. Slight fascia deformation may occur on some models.

Not a perfect fit...

The product arrived in good condition. It was in a huge box with very little packaging. It would have been better off to wrap it with shrink wrap and slap a shipping tag on it. But It got here just fine.

The install was a bear. I tried several approaches to get the holes to line up. Starting the bottom bolts first. Starting the inside bolts first. Bottom line is that they do not line up particularly well. I finally got it close enough to make it work, with minimal grinding, by attaching both passenger side bolts (loosely) and then getting the inside bolt on the driver's side, which was a real bear; then, finally, just squeaking the bottom bolt in on the driver's side. YMMV. Seems that production tolerances are a little off.

Torque spec is 75 lbs. I could not get a torque wrench on the inside bolts; but, I was able to get my Dewalt impact driver in there with a wobble extension. I ran a quick test using that wobble set-up on the lower bolts and they were right around 75 pounds. So, I think I'm good. I'm gonna drive to for a while and double check.

Overall, good construction, paint is good, design is simple, and install is straightforward, if a little challenging... Most importantly, I really like having the front hitch on my truck. Bike rack, m/c rack fit on there nicely; I also use it to mount my winch and maneuver trailers around in tight spaces. Super handy and really affordable.

Easy to install.

On of the mounting holes was on a bend line on the hitch. Manufacturing error because the passenger side did not have this issue.

Works fine, I’m a custom fabricator but this was not plug & play on 2002 Silverado 2500 HD

2002 Silverado 2500 HD. It lined up fine after a couple hours grinding back over 1/8” off the hitch & the supports attached to vehicle frame. It does bunch up the plastic air dam on this truck but looks good & should work fine.

JUST MY LUCK! WELL MADE BUT I GOT ONE THAT WON'T BOLT UP!
Reviewed in the United States ?? on June 14, 2017

First of all, I ordered a Reese Front Mount Receiver for my 2005 Chevy Suburban 2500, but I received a Draw-Tite instead with the same part number (65028). I think I saw "Mexico" somewhere on the instructions also. As far as quality, it seems to be made well with good materials.

I used a small transmission jack to get it into place and a block of wood and a 2 lb. hammer "coax" it up to the tow hook holes. I was able to get 2 of the 3 bolts started on each side (if you have tow hooks, use 2 of the longer bolts that come in the hardware packet, and one of the original tow hook bolts on each side). Use the original tow hook bolt on the FRONT OUTSIDE frame bolt hole. The new (longer) bolts will be used on the BOTTOM of the frame and the FRONT INSIDE frame bolt holes.

The problem I encountered was that no matter what I did----the two FRONT INSIDE bolt holes on the hitch would not line up with the bolt holes in my frame. The frame is not damaged either. In order to use this hitch I would have to enlarge the FRONT INSIDE bolt holes on the hitch and there just isn't enough material in that area to do that. It would weaken the mounting holes and possibly make the hitch unsafe to use.

I have decided not to modify the hitch for safety reasons, so I'll be sending this one back to Amazon. I will pay more and try the CURT 31108, since I don't know of any other options.
