Fixed my Defogger Easy to Use

Purchased this to fix one broken heating element I had on my 2013 Chevy Volt. I had two spots where the element had breaks. The metallic paint applied super easy, I applied three coats and waited a day and that strip now works. Do yourself a favor and do not use the included stencil/mast and instead use your own masking tape. The stencil was much wider than my car's lines, you're better off just lining it up yourself with masking tape to get a better fitment.

It absolutely fixed my rear window defroster

It absolutely fixed my rear window defroster. There are many similar kids out there like this but they never seem to come with enough liquid to complete the job. I only purchase the Permatex brand And he did exactly what it was supposed to do. And after going an entire year without my rear defroster I now am extremely happy with the results. Highly recommend!

Not enough liquid. It's brown so it stands out from the rest of the windshield.

This product functioned exactly as advertized.

The package contains the parts to fix two possible problems with your rear window defogger: 1. Replace the 'clip' that connects the wire to the 'window strips', and; 2. Reconnect ends of a 'window strip' that has been scratched or otherwise been severed. My problem was the latter. Essentially a small stencil is provided to stick onto the window, exposing the 'broken' part of the window strip. The, using a small brush and 'paint' (both provided), you paint in the stencil. Wait 10 minutes, then do a 2nd coat. Wait 10 minutes, then do a 3rd coat. Wait 30 minutes, then remove the stencil. Wait 24 hours, then try your defogger. Alternatively, a small multimeter can be used to measure resistance over the patched strip, instead of waiting 24 hours, to be sure the patch worked. I waited and the patch worked fine.

The cost (~$10) is well worth having this fixed, when I had no idea it was even possible to DIY.

I deducted 1 star because the patch is at least twice as thick as necessary, making the repair obvious. It is not outrageously so, but is noticeable if you look for it. Were I to do this again, I would use 2 pieces of Scotch (or noname brand) tape, to serve as a stencil. Contact with the glass must be complete to result in clean edges.

Product works as advertised. Paint it on to repair damaged defogger wires. Good as new (almost) with a bit of time and care.

Product works. Had glue residue on my rear window and foolishly used a razor blade to scrape it (and several inches of 5 or 6 defogger wires) off the rear window. Didn't realize they were silk-screened on. Oops!

The stencil included in the package is limited. Use good quality masking tape, leaving only the area to paint exposed. Be sure to press tape hard against the window, otherwise the paint will run underneath the tape, making for messy/wide lines, as happened to me. Paint and repeat as per the instructions. When you remove the tape, the area can be cleaned using a razor or box cutter -- VERY gently scrape toward the lines (the flat part of blade parallel to the flat part of the painted on lines). It's very delicate work, but if you do it carefully, you'll hardly be able to tell it was repainted.

Color is slightly more "orange" than the factory silk screened on wires, so it doesn't look perfect. But if you don't know to look for it, you won't see it. I can now defog the entire window again (although the area I painted actually gets hotter than the rest, so it defogs first).

My glass has not exploded, as per another review. I see no reason why glass would from using the product, unless it simultaneously had a rock thrown through it.

Significantly cheaper than new glass. With a little care and effort, almost good as new.
