I have been having difficulty finding caps for ps3 sticks that became tacky with age.
On a ps4 controller (CUH-ZCT1U) these work as advertised: turn them inside out, and pop! they're on with very little fuss.
On a ps3 controller (CECHZC2U) the stick tops seem to be a touch bigger. These do fit, but only just barely. It takes more work to get them on: turn inside-out, make sure they're perfectly centered, stretch opposite sides over the edges, then while holding the cap in place with one thumb, pick at the edges that didn't make it all the way down until they're even all the way around. Once they're on they seem pretty secure.
To be clear: the item description doesn't promise that these work for ps3. Other products that do claim to work on ps3 controllers have numerous reviews saying that they do not, so... I'm posting this in the hope that this will be a useful signpost for other ps3 users wondering the dangerous amazon.com product wilderness. Probably by the time you read this, amazon will have have filled this bin with some other manufacturer's product that is slightly different and won't actually work, so: caveat emptor.
4 stars only because I'm not a super fan of the knubby texture, but it's a definite improvement over tacky.
