More CURT class 1 hitch advantages
Open-back receiver
CURT class 1 hitches feature an open-back hitch receiver. This allows for easy cleaning of the receiver as needed and helps prevent buildup of dirt and debris (some class 1 hitches come with a fixed tongue instead of a receiver).
Available with included ball mount
Each CURT class 1 hitch with a receiver is also available as a trailer hitch kit with a ball mount included. The ball mount has a standard 1-1/4-inch shank and readily accepts the trailer ball of your choice.
Concealed main body
Many class 1 tow hitches are engineered with a concealed main body. The main portion of the hitch is hidden up underneath the car, providing a more seamless look and original equipment feel.
Integrated safety chain loops
All CURT class 1 trailer hitches comes with safety chain loops integrated into the design of the hitch, allowing for immediate connection of your trailer safety chains.

Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the BMW 525, 528, 530, 535, 545 and 550 (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Finally a solution to travel with bikes in BMW.

One of the hardest things to come to terms with is what to do with your bike when you have a luxury car. One bike is easy to deal with in the trunk. Get a partner and then what? No way will I put ugly bars on the roof of my car. If I wanted that I would drive a subaru. Hell no this is my baby. So the solution was aptly provided by Curt. I had this installed at BMW Seattle for a few hundred and problem solved. You can do this yourself but be warned its involved since you have to remove the bumper and drill holes. For me 200 well spent. I recommend this for anyone in the same boat as I. I paired it with the Thule Helium 3 bike and its perfect! Now I can go on a road trip to wine country for a long weekend or vacation, bring the bikes and the luggage in the comfort of my car. I highly recommend. Why not 5 stars? I did have to drill in my car. Be careful if you have a wagon as this is not the one for you and likewise if you have a sedan get this one. I had to call Curt to be sure.

Looks ugly

I put a hitch on my last BMW and the part that fastened it to the bumper was under the plastic bumper cover so it looked good. Only the receiver showed This one sits on top of the cover and is just too ugly to have on a nice car. I returned it. It wasn't the hitches fault, this model car is not designed to have a hitch so this is the best Curt could do.

Just like the install on you tube, just follow along and its easy. took about 2 hrs, no rush and I did it by myself. The bumper was the tuffest part, but I got my hands in there and got the screws back on.
