How often can a company claim to be "The Original" and, better yet, substantiate that claim? Flashback to the brand's earliest days in 1967, in a meager garage shop in Portland, Oregon, Jerry Logan sought to solve a real-world problem for off-roaders everywhere. The sport of conquering rugged, often uncharted terrain in otherwise street-legal trucks was on the climb. For many, this meant extensive modifications to their vehicles and, of course, the addition of larger tires. This notion often posed a more significant obstacle to the off-roader than the trail itself. Run those larger tires on any public highway, and you'll stand the risk of receiving a hefty fine. With no real solution readily available, Jerry, an off-road enthusiast himself, set out to develop a simple, bolt-on fix. Was not that easy to attach. I just got black sheet metal screws and put her on. If you do it that way be sure to tighten all the hex nuts and screws. I left a few loose and will have to take some off to re tighten them.

The product looks great. Fitting is the issue. You really have to wrestle (at least for me) to get the screw holes to line up with the clips.Honestly, I think the screws are too short. You will need an AWL to get the alignment right. It's definitely not as easy as later model GM flare installs.

Make sure you cut the trim on your truck off to size.

Style: Extend-A-Fender Flares

These flares are very cheap thin plastic, scuff and scratch easily, and a royal pain in the neck to install - properly.

With the cost of these thing, you'd think for sure they'd have factory matching mounting holes pre-drilled, but instead there are just a few dimples - less than the 8 factory. And these dimples do not correspond to the factory hole locations - so using those dimples, the installer would have to also drill new holes in the fender lips as well.

It's okay to follow those instructions that come in the box if you just want a hack job, but doing the job properly involves marking and drilling 8 holes in each flare to match the GM factory holes - a very time consuming and cursed process due to their awkward shape and flimsy construction.

Also, part of the installation process involves stringing the little peel and stick rubber trim along the edge of flare that comes in contact with vehicle - another cumbersome and tedious pain in the neck.

It's a ridiculous design and very cheap product, especially considering the price they get for these things. Hard to believe this company Bushwacker has been around for 45 years - you'd think they'd be able to figure these things out by now.

Much regret for not spending extra money for GM factory OEM flares for higher quality, strength, fitment, etc.

Purchased in August 2015. These flares are similar to the oem but don't be fooled as to them being a factory replacement. They have a rubber strip that runs along the backside and over the top of the flares that is visible. Doesn't look terrible if left black or a dark color but if painted a light color it would stand out.
