The ARRIS NVG44x-Series Triple Play (Voice, Video and Data) and Dual-Play (Video and Data) Residential Gateways are designed to deliver robust video, high-speed data and (optionally) primary line telephony, all delivered over the VDSL/VDSL2/ADSL2+ broadband network. This full-featured, high-performance Gateway provides a cost-effective way for Service Providers to migrate seamlessly from legacy ADSL networks to VDSL/VDSL2 networks via a converged services platform, made possible with the ARRIS 9x CPE Software. Ideal for both xDSLand FTTH applications and including advanced Quality of Service (QoS) features, security firewall, and extensive remote management features, the NVG44x-Series Gateways enable reliable, single-platform delivery of voice-over-IP (VoIP), data, and streaming broadcast-quality video over the VDSL/VDSL2/ADSL2 broadband network. Users can take advantage of: - Simultaneous use of phone, video, and high-speed data over a bonded or single copper pair - IPTV video - Four Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed home networking - Concurrent Wi-Fi support for 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz, and 802.11ac on 5 GHz - Primary line VoIP telephone service The NVG44x-Series Gateways use Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology, eliminating the need for wired connections and enabling users to easily network all of their wireless 802.11b/g/n/ac-equipped devices. Its four 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports give subscribers the option of setting up a home network to share a printer and data, music, and video files. Thus, the NVG44x-Series Gateways enables users to maximize the high-bandwidth potential of their home or business network.

Works, but . . .

Bought this product rather than a ZyXEL because it had better reviews. It arrived quickly. It was easy to install, nothing to do but plug everything in and turn it on. Problem, however: The unit has problems with downloads.

Ex. 1: Spotify update said it was downloading, but was taking way longer than usual. I backed out and tried again later; still didn't work.

Ex. 2: An NVIDIA update download said it was going to take almost an hour. Usually it's a few minutes. I cancelled.

A couple other updates worked about normally. I turned off the modem and hooked up a cable modem, and the 2 failed update downloads worked fine.

I'm no expert on any kind of technology; maybe somebody else can explain why this would happen.

Frontier modem.
Reviewed in the United States ?? on December 9, 2022

Was an exact replacement for my Frontier modem. Even has Frontier written on the front. Thought I would get $10:00 off my bill as I was told I was leasing the old one. It was hit by lightning. When trying to get a credit I was told it was just part of the service at no additional charge. No sence in buying this one as Frontier gave me another at no charge.

Fantastic DSL modem/router

I am not a hardware expert but this unit is fantastic. I upgraded to this new Gateway. It’s signal penetrated area of my home the the old device did not. I had it working and all my 11 household devices connected in less than 20 minutes without calls to tech support, that’s a win!

Works with Charter Cable ADSL!
Reviewed in the United States ?? on May 3, 2022

Charter rents their ADSL modems for $180 a year. I purchased this modem for less than half of that. I wanted a modem that has dual radio (2.4 and 5Ghz) that has MIMO (multiple antennas inside) and that was not the limiting factor in speeds experienced. I get the same speeds both directly connected and over 5Ghz WiFi for less than half the cost or renting from Charter. In short, this modem pays for itself in six months. After that is a like a free $15 off my bill each month.

My Charter ADSL line is not bonded so having just one green connection light is it normal state. This is great! All the bells and whistles on a vanilla ADSL2+/ATM-LLC BRIDGED connection!

Sure is great

I got this to replace an old 10 year old router my current cable /net provider XIT of Dalhart tx gave me years ago that is getting old. I am sure it will work once I call XIT and they come install an abridged modem or whatever that is, even though this router meets same tech specs as my old one, so it should work right? Well apparently internet service providers do not like outside routers so I have to work with them to get this one to work. I am sure it will work well though, it looks great and will make a great paper weight for now lol.
